Chemicals, Chemical’s Every Where!šŸ˜–

Chemicals are everywhere! The worst place chemicals can be is on your skin. Your skin absorbs everything.

This blog post was suppose to be done months ago. Ā Unfortunately, it was the most time consuming blog to do. I have tons of pictures that need to be magnified and edited before I can use them. Ā Today I thought, I’ll post a few. This will be an ongoing project. Everytime I find new information, I’ll let you know.

So today we’re going to take a look at a few products that come from every girl’s favorite store. Now I’ve taken the name from images, I don’t need the problems that comes with disclosing that. You may be able to figure it out. I will say these products are available in Ā stores across the U.S. Ā As I read the ingredients labels I was so disappointed to find a host of chemicals in these beautifully smelling products. Some of the chemicals I knew nothing about. (Of course the list of dangerous chemicals is exorbitant)

Phenoxyethanol is a pretty bad 1. I found it in 1 of the products below. The chemical can be found in a lot of personal care products. It depresses the nervous system and can cause reproductive problems. Not something you want to see in your body products. Ā 2 particular chemicals were found in all 3 products pictured below. Ā Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Methylcholoroisothiazolinone.

So I broke the ingredients down into Laureth and Sulfates. I also included a link about Sodium Laureth Sulfate. (Scroll down to almost the bottom if you don’t have time to read the whole article) SulfatesĀ are used as foaming agents in shampoo, body wash, and facial cleanser. They can cause skin and eye irritation, and form carcinogenic nitrates when combined with other ingredients often found in these formulas. A study reported in the Journal of the American College of Toxicology found that sulfates can enter the body through the skin and build up in the heart, lungs, and brain. The same study also suggested that sulfates can damage the immune system. Chemical build up in the body can cause health problems.

As for Laureate; dioxane found in compounds known as PEG, Polysorbates, Laureth, ethoxylated alcohols. Ā They also can be found in personal care products. It was reported as a carcinogen in 1978 to the National Cancer Institute.Ā In three epidemiologic studies on workers exposed to 1,4-dioxane, the observed number of cancer cases did not differ from the expected cancer deaths.Ā  Tumors have been observed in orally exposed animals.Ā  EPA has classified 1,4-dioxane as a Group B2, probable human carcinogen.ā€ _ www3.epa.gov Ā Anything with laureth, lauryl or laurate is dangerous.

How is it possible that our government allows personal products to include such dangerous and harmful chemicals? And remember, I only covered a few here. There are so many more and many of the chemicals are rated as carcinogens.

Methylcholoroisothiazolinone.Ā Ā Ā  Ā  This long named chemical, I can’t even pronounce is presently listed as a skin irritant. Ā It’s used as a preservative in cosmetics and the like. I’ve suffered with exzema for years, I don’t need any help from skin irritants thank you.

For more information on some of the chemicals used in personal care products visit my youtube page. I don’t create the videos anymore, but two of them give good information so I haven’t taken down the page yet. The videos you may want to take a look at areĀ Body Natural and BN Part 2Ā . Ā Of course your welcome to view the other videos also.

I will continue to keep you all posted as to the products that include these horrible chemicals. It’s important to ready the labels of the products you buy. Unfortunately the only way to really avoid it is to make your own products, because many of the natural or organic personal care products in the store also contain some of these chemicals. I’ve spent hours combing through the internet looking for natural recipes. Pinterest was a God send for natural products. So check it out. Also, if you don’t feel like making your own there are a lot of people who make natural products to sell. I created Body Natural to give people a real alternative for personal care products. Check out the Body Natural products page on this website or just click the link.

Until next time. Peace and Love.

Like so many women I wear different hats. Sometimes all at once, sometimes one after another. I'm a mother, teacher, daughter, sister, friend and writer. That doesn't include my love to create things. I love working with my hands to crochet, draw, mix natural products and the list goes on. This blog is an extension of that love. Join me and see how I Live Love Create.
