Just Add a Bed in the Sky

I came out of the bathroom feeling as though I was walking on clouds. Jay walked closer to me now and kept his hand on the small of my back.
“I love you Shy.” I stopped in my tracks. Jay had never said that before.
“Jay.” I turned to him and wrapped my arms around his neck. “I love you too.” I reached up to kiss him. Our lips had barely touched before we were interrupted.
“Jay, it’s time to leave. The pilot said he’s ready. Shy, Jenn is waiting for you.” I nodded as I begrudgingly let go of Jay and turned to walk away.”
“See you ladies on the flight.”
“Of course you will, Ano,” I replied. I couldn’t help but think where else would I be?
“Put in a good word with Jenn for me, before she kills you.”
“Sure Ano, I know.” From the time Ano got a look at Jenn he has wanted her. Ever since he found out she was my best friend he’s been pestering me to hook him up on a date. It’s been more then three months and I now believe he’s serious. He wouldn’t have kept bothering me if he wasn’t.
I knew he was right, Jenn was going to kill me. Jenn and I shared almost everything. There was nothing we didn’t know about each other until I started seeing Jay. Jenn and I had been close since high school. She was the person I called when Mark broke up with me for some blonde chic and I was heart broken. At first Jay wanted to keep us quiet. We didn’t know how far we would go and he didn’t want to interrupt my life with the storm media can bring. But lately he we’ve been going out more. Now I’m not sure I want to publicize us. The thought of everyone knowing my business is scary. Then a few months ago I found out that Jenn thought of Jay as the one that got away. What horrible timing. Jay and I were starting to fall in love. There was no way I was going to end it for some fantasy in Jennifer’s head. Had I known before we dated I would have never dated him.
We were having a few drinks at her house and she had a few too many. We started talking about our college days and she asked, ‘Shy, do you remember that geeky guy Jay something or other? We went out a few times and he wouldn’t leave me alone. I wonder what he’s doing right now? Think he’s still geeky?”
“No telling what he’s doing now. But I don’t think he’s still that scrawny kid.” That’s when Jenn gave me that look, as if I was hiding something from her. Of course I was, so I said nothing.
Now Jenn, is definitely going to be pist. Jay isn’t that scrawny kid at all. He turned out to be super sexy. As Jenn and I walked to the gate, I could think of nothing else. “So how was it?”
“Jenn, it was every girls’ dream.” No matter where I am, being next to Jay preferably in the comfort of his arms is the only place I want to be. My dream.
“Sure for every girl who dreams of getting tossed in the girls bathroom.”
I rolled my eyes. Getting it on in the bathroom is not anyone’s dream. But Jay was my dream guy. We connected on so many levels. I smiled thinking of our first date and Jenn hit me with her book. “Ouch, Jenn. What was that for?”
“You’re not telling my something.”
“Why would you think that?”
“This isn’t the Shy I know.” I smiled as I stopped at my seat next to Jay and looked around the plane. Private planes are awesome. “So you’re sitting with him now? Who am I sitting with.”
“You can sit anywhere you want. Still, I thought you’d like to sit with, Ano. And don’t look at me like that or roll your eyes.” I turned toward Jay as he took my things and put them an over heard compartment.
The plane was gorgeous. Just like I had seen on TV and in ads. One side was lined with comfy couches and the other had four cushy leather chairs. There was a small table on the side. Behind them, in the back of the plane was a room. The door was slightly ajar and I could see the small room. The bed took up most of the space. Never thought I would fly in one.
“Get comfortable, Shy. Relax.” Jay ushered me to the window seat.
“I like the isle. This way I can talk to Jenn.”
“ She’ll be close to you. Of course, I plan to occupy most of your time during this trip.”
“Oh Jay,” I replied as I sat in the seat by the window and smiled up at him. The chair was so comfy. I could get use to this life. “Jay, can you get the blanket out of my bag please.” He obliged and handed my afghan. I always got cold on planes.
After handing me the afghan Jay didn’t sit down but walked over to Ano to talk. I decided to close my eyes and put my feet up. I was exhausted. I didn’t go to work yesterday but stayed home to pack and then met Jay at his place. He was mad that we weren’t going to the airport together in the morning. Instead, I got a taxi to Jenn’s to pick her up. I was surprised he even spoke to me at the airport. When I left his apartment he didn’t kiss me or say anything. I wonder how he’s gonna make me pay for that.
“Are you settled ma’ma? Do you need anything?”
“Can I get something before we take off. I don’t think I can wait for breakfast.”
“Sure, I believe Mr. Kaʻuhane wanted to make sure we were prepared for your first flight with us.” Wow, I thought. I guess he flew this way often. Did he own this plane? “Would you like a croissant and a latte? I believe they came from your favorite bakery.”
“My favorite bakery isn’t in New York, it’s in Charlotte.”
“Yes, ma’am. That’s why we were delayed a bit. We were waiting for the package.”
“Sure, that would be great, thank you.” She was off to the kitchen. I would never get this kind of service in coach. It paid to have a friend who was a star. And pastries from Amelie’s, unbelievable. I think I only mentioned them to him once.”
“Are you comfortable, Shy?”
“I’m fine Jay. Just recovering from our morning play time.”
“Oh. Sure you can handle another episode?”
“I’m pretty sure I can handle a few more today.” He smiled at me as he sat down and opened his arms. I got up and sat on his lap. “My lady.” I felt his lips graze my cheek as he tightened his arms around me.
I closed my eyes and leaned into his embrace. Divine I thought as I got comfortable enough to almost fall asleep before the stewardess brought what I asked.
“Ma’am.”
“Please call me Shy.”
“Shy, we’re going to need you to sit in your seat. We’ve been cleared for the runway.” I nodded and was about to get up when Jenn came over.
“Don’t you two look adorbs.” I knew that tone. Jenn was piecing together some of what I left out. She’s not going to let me rest on this flight or anywhere else for that matter. I opened my eyes and looked up.
“Why thank you.” I got off of Jay, sat in my own seat and closed my eyes again.
“Ouch.” I couldn’t believe she pulled my hair. “Jenn, what are you doing? Shouldn’t you be in your seat also?”
“Yes. Giving you as little privacy as possible. Wouldn’t want you to do something you’ll regret or see on youtube later.”
“Ah, miss. Can you sit down and fasten your seatbelt? We’re getting ready to take off.”
“Sure.” She smiled at the stewardess before looking back at me. “I’m not done with you yet, Shy.” I sighed and closed my eyes.
“This could have been avoided if you just told her,” Jay whispered in my ear.
I didn’t reply but pressed the button to put my feet up turned my back Jay. “Can’t wait to get you into that bed back there.” I turned my head and smiled. He blew on my neck and my body shivered. “Just wait ’til we get into the air.”
I had to stop myself from gasping as he moved his hand up my leg to the apex of my thighs. Could I be quiet enough not to be noticed? Well the room did have a door.
