Peace and Love Everyone!
Hope everyone has had a great week and weekend. This was my first week back to school. So far so good. I hope it stays that way.
I know you’re probably wondering when I get to the Fame part of my fan fiction. It’s coming. I built a story within a story. There’s only one more chapter before Allegra heads to NYC.
Chapter 2
It was now the third month of their little arrangement. Today Pablo picked her up early because Allegra had an appointment at the doctor.
“Well, Ms. Rivera, I have the results of your test.”
“And?”
“It was positive.”
“That’s not possible. Are you sure? There must be some mistake.”
“There isn’t. You’re almost three months pregnant.”
“Oh, Pablo will not like this at all. I still need to finish school. Dios, ayudarme, por favor.
“Shall I call in Mr. Rosas.?” Allegra nodded.
He showed Pablo into the examining room. “I will leave you two alone.”
“What are the test results, Alle?”
“Pablo,” Allegra paused. “I’m almost three months pregnant.”
“No, not possible. How did this happen? Is it mine? Who else have you been seeing? Is it your father’s?”
“Pablo!” How could he think that? He had been with her every night since they started having sex. “Are you serious right now?”
He shook his head and moved towards her. “Alle, I’m sorry. I’m truly sorry. Come on, let’s go home, mine. I’ll take care of both of you. I love you.”
“I love you too. Why are we going to your house?”
“I should have introduced you to my parents already.”
“I wanna go home. I need to talk to my mom.”
“As soon as you meet my parents.”
“Are you going to tell them? I’ll start showing in a couple of months.”
“I don’t know.”
“Are you mad at me? I didn’t make the baby by myself.”
“No, Alle. I’m just in shock. I don’t know what to do. But I won’t let your dad hurt you again. We won’t lose the baby, and you will finish school and go to college. You will dance. I promise you.”
“Oh Pablo, what would I do without you? I don’t want to find out.”
They left the doctor’s office and headed for Pablo’s home.
“Mom, I’m home,” Pablo called as he walked through the hallway.
“Hi, Pablo.”
Hi mom,” he hugs and kisses her. “Mom, this is Allegra.”
“Hi, Allegra. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“Hello, Senora Rosas, same here.”
“Please come in, have a seat. Pablo always talks about you.” She turns to call her husband. “Sweetheart, come here. Come meet Allegra.”
“Hi, Allegra, he says as he enters the room.”
“Hi, Senor Rosas.”
“Well, you certainly are much prettier than we heard.”
“Thank you, senor,” Allegra replies, blushing.
“I just wanted you to meet her. I have to take her home now. You can reach me at her house.”
“Not tonight, son. There’s an emergency at the hotel. I was waiting for you to come home.”
“Okay, I’ll meet you at the hotel. Let’s go Allegra.” Once they were seated in the car, Pablo asked, “Will you be okay tonight? Maybe you should come with me.”
“I should be fine. I don’t think you should take me to work with you.”
“Okay, I will pick you up in the morning. Make sure you pack what you need — anything else we’ll buy.
The car ride was quiet. Each lost in their thoughts. When they reached the Sutton home, Pablo walked Allegra to the door.
“See you in the morning.” He kissed Allegra goodnight and left once he saw that she was safely inside.
It was late, and all the house lights were off. Allegra took off her shoes after locking the door and quietly walked to her room. She undressed and put on a nightshirt before packing what she would need. She fell asleep dreaming of the life waiting for her. One day she would become Allegra Antonia Maria Rivera Rosa, and she and Pablo would have at least two more children after this one. Allegra placed her hand on her stomach.
When she felt the covers pull-down, she shivered and turned to grope for the covers to get warm. Then she felt something cold on her skin. It moved up to her throat, and a hand went over her mouth. Allegra’s eyes flew open to see her dad already on top of her. He had parted her legs and was getting ready to enter her. She tried to struggle but felt the pressure at her throat, and something wet ran down the side of her neck. She knew she couldn’t fight back and stopped struggling. He was so rough with her bruising her skin again. She didn’t know what to do to get rid of him. Now he was inside of her; again. Her mind raced as she tried to think of surviving this attack. She needed to block out what he was doing to her. She knew getting out of this house was her only way to survive. She would never be safe in her family home. She cried silently. How would she see Pablo tomorrow? How would she face him?
Mark punched and slapped Allegra. He made slash marks across her skin with the knife. “You broke your promise to me.”
The tears ran faster. She had been unfaithful; betrayed Pablo. What would she do?
When Mark was finished, he pulled up his pants as he headed to her door. As he opened it and stood in the threshold, he turned to her, “you’ll always be dad’s little whore.” With that, he left.
Allegra’s body shook with fear as the tears rolled faster down her cheeks. She curled herself into a ball. What would she do? What should she do? She couldn’t stay here; he would never leave her alone now. She would be vulnerable to his every whim. What about her baby? Mark hadn’t known, but he beat and punched her.
As she lay in the remnants of her betrayal, she felt her stomach cramping and her legs were wet. Allegra panicked, she needed to get to the hospital, and she must call Pablo. She knew the number to the hotel. She dialed and waited for Pablo to come to the phone.
“Alle, are you okay?”
“Pablo, can you meet me at the emergency room?”
“Alle, what’s wrong?”
“I I…can you meet me? And please call my doctor.”
“Okay.”
“Mama,” Allegra screamed. “Mama.”
“Si Bambina, que paso?” Her mom came running after hearing her scream.
“Mama, please get me to the hospital.” Her mom nodded.
“Senor Rosas.”
“Yes, Dr. Martinez.”
“Is anyone from Allegra’s family here? We need to operate. Either we stop the bleeding, or we lose her and the baby.”
“Yes, her mom Mrs. Sutton is here.” He turned to get her. She had been staring into space since she sat down — worried lines etched in her face.
“Mrs.Sutton, you need to sign the papers for them to operate. Dr. Martinez says this is the only way to save Alle.”
“Anything to save my baby.”
Several hours later
“Senor Rosas, Mrs. Sutton.”
“Doctor, how is she?”
“She’ll be fine. The surgery was a success. We managed to stop the bleeding. We’re lucky the damage wasn’t worse. However, there was no way to save the baby. I’m truly sorry.”
“As long as she’s okay. May we see her?”
“Yes, but she needs her rest.”
“Mrs. Sutton, we can go see Alle.”
Mrs. Sutton got up from her chair and followed Pablo. When they entered the recovery room, they just watched her. Her neck bandaged, her wrists purple, and her left eye a purplish black. Tears began to run down Mrs. Sutton’s face as she looked at her daughter. She knew that Allegra could no longer live with her. But where would she go, could her boyfriend even care for her? Did he want to?
Allegra opened her eyes. “Mama, Pablo.” Her voice was faint.
“Oh, Allegra I’m glad to see you open your eyes.”
“Alle how do you feel?”
“How should I feel? Weak and tired, I guess. Pablo, before you leave, I need you to know that I tried to stop him. I did, but he had a knife, and he cut and beat me. I’m sorry to involve you in all of this. I won’t be mad at you if you want to leave.”
“Alle, it’s not your fault. Just rest, okay. You’ll be out soon. I’m taking your things to my place. Mom brought your bag with her. I should have never let you go back home alone. You won’t have to worry about him anymore.” Pablo bent over and kissed her pale lips. “Get some rest. I’ll come by later. I love you.”
“I love you.”
“It’s good to see the love between you. Will you be okay, Bambina?”
“Yes, mama.”
“I will come back tomorrow. I’ll pack some more of your things.”
“Okay,” Alle replied.
Mrs. Sutton bent over and kissed Allegra’s forehead and smoothed her hair before she walked out of the room. Pablo was standing right outside.
“Mrs. Sutton, can I give you a ride home?”
“Thank you, but I’m not leaving. I just wanted Allegra to close her eyes and rest. If I stay in the room, she’ll try to be chipper and carry on a conversation to stop me from worrying.
“Okay,” Pablo paused. He was just about to leave. “Who’s the man who just entered Allegra’s room.”
“I didn’t see anyone. Then they heard a scream come from Allegra’s room. Pablo ran in, followed by Mrs. Sutton.
“Allegra, what’s ….” Pablo stopped mid-sentence seeing a man on top of Allegra who he could only assume to be Mr. Sutton. He was raising Allegra’s gown and had his hand over her mouth. Without thinking, Pablo pulled him off of him, throwing him to the ground and punching him over and over again. When he got no resistance, he stopped.
“Allegra are you okay?”
“Yes, now. Pablo.” Tears began to roll down her cheeks. “I’ll never be safe.”
Pablo sat on the bed and held her in his arms as her body shook with sobs. “You’re going to have to speak with the police Allegra. Have him arrested.”
Allegra didn’t reply. She was silent now wrapped in his arms. Mrs. Sutton was sitting close to the bed in a chair her face in her hands. She had watched her daughter with Pablo for a while. She didn’t know what to do. She was happy that Allegra had Pablo, but the two of them wouldn’t be safe with Mark running around free.
Pablo could hear the sobs coming from her. What the hell was he going to do? This was too much for him to handle by himself.
They were all there sitting in the silence when Mark regained consciousness. Allegra was asleep wrapped in Pablo’s arms. He was holding one of her hands and playing in her hair.
Mrs. Sutton hadn’t realized that her husband was awake until he stepped in front of her. “Let’s go, Mark.”
He didn’t reply but followed his wife out of the door. He knew he was losing his daughter, and he would have to do something about it.
