WELCOME!

How Can You Be Productive?

Peace and Love Everyone! Thanks for stopping by.

I was inspired to write this blog because of an article I skimmed. Well that was a while ago and I have no idea what I read. 😆

Anyway, I thought I would pick up the thought here. I’m on my lunch break and took some time to write. I’m working on book 3 and book 2 has been moved from being in the writing process to being edited. Yeah 👍🏽 🥳

Being productive can take many forms. It’s not about doing it the right way. It’s more about setting up a habit that works best for you. Now I said habit, you probably thought about the one thing you do that you hate and are trying to stop. Habits can be good things also. You create them after all, why not create one that is best for you instead of one that is self defeating. Yes, easier said than done. Who you tellin’.

Habits take a minimum of 21 days to solidify. Which is why when you try to create a habit and break your flow, you have to start all over again. It hasn’t become a habit. For example. I wanted to form a habit of writing everyday. Now that was and is a hard one. When I was teaching, I would write at night when the house was quiet, both of my children asleep or winding down for the night. I’m a long way from that, so the habit doesn’t work anymore. Besides, I’d much rather watch Asian dramas and crochet at night.

First thing you have to do is to figure out when this new habit should happen. When is the best time for you to start, where there is the least likelihood of distractions. I know you’re saying there is no time where you are not distracted. Especially if you’re a mom. If you want to, you can find time. Thirty minutes in the morning, midday or the evening, right before bed. I don’t know your schedule, think about it.

Then try. How does it work? How do you feel? Can you get back to it after your Rugrats have interrupted you? This can be difficult. Finding the right time for you to focus on the habit you want to form is a bitch. You’ll be frustrated when it doesn’t work. I was. Let it go for a few days, maybe a week and then try again. Once you find the right time in your day it will be easier to form a habit. And it will be easier to get back to that habit.

Don’t be pissed when you break it and can’t get back to it. Creating your own habits is hard. Unless you’ve done it before. Sometimes even then. But remember some things take time. You’re growing into a new you, forming your own habits.

There are times when my routine (habit) is broken for weeks. I used to get frustrated and angry at myself. Talk to myself like I was dumb as rocks. Okay exaggerating a little. But I put myself down because the habit wouldn’t stick. THAT DOES NOT HELP. You’ve gotta find your groove. For writing and me, our best time is the morning time as I’m drinking my mushroom coffee. I miss some days. Life happens and you need to be flexible. But when the drama ends, I’m right back at my morning coffee or tea and my iPad and it feels fabulous. I’m so proud when it happens several days a week. I tell myself I need a break when it doesn’t. Give it a try.

If you have any suggestions, please comment. Also, let me know if you tried and it works.

  1. I thought 30 days was the number but okay. I could do a lot in 21 days.
