On Step At a Time

Changing your lifestyle takes time. It’s not something that you can totally change quickly and keep it. Especially for changing to chemically free home.

I’ve been reducing the use of harmful chemicals in my home for over 2 years now.  If you’ve read prior articles or watched my videos you know it started with the lotions and soaps I put on my skin. Then, I changed to natural shampoos eventually I made my own. Now I’m working on changing household cleaners. Doesn’t make sense to change the lotions and soaps and not the products you use around the home.

Now, I’ve changed the wipes that I’ve used at work, my dryer sheets and my detergent. It’s amazing the amount of chemicals that are in our everyday lives. Each causing a different dis-ease in our bodies.  So far, I love the detergent. My clothes smell fresh and I can select the way I want them to smell by using different essential oils.

For my first try I used the  citrus castile soap and jasmine oil. Smells heavenly. I followed the recipe to the T. I would add extra wash powder and castile soap next time. Also, you need at least 20 drops of the essential oil to smell it in your clothes.  I only put 10 drops and I thought it was enough because the smell was strong in the bottle, but my clothes didn’t smell like Jasmine. So, I doubled the amount and it’s much better. I didn’t get a glass jar for this I just refilled my old detergent container after I rinsed it out. Here is the link for the natural detergent.

If you’re interested in replacing any of your home products check out my ‘Natural Replacements 4 Your Home‘ board on Pinterest.  If you’d like to see what I’ve pinned lately checkout my Pinterest page.

Let me know if there is anything you would like me to try and review.

Until next time.

Like so many women I wear different hats. Sometimes all at once, sometimes one after another. I'm a mother, teacher, daughter, sister, friend and writer. That doesn't include my love to create things. I love working with my hands to crochet, draw, mix natural products and the list goes on. This blog is an extension of that love.
